The PMI-ACP is the credential that sits across multiple agile frameworks rather than inside any single one of them. Scrum, Kanban, XP, Lean, Crystal — each has its own community and its own dogma. The PMI-ACP signals the practitioner who has examined the principles underneath all of them and can match the right approach to the right context, rather than imposing a single framework on every engagement.

This matters for our practice because complex enterprise programs almost never run in pure agile mode. They run as hybrid environments: predictive at the program governance layer (where stage gates, budget envelopes, and committee approvals operate in defined cadences) and adaptive at the workstream layer (where backlog refinement, sprint cadence, and continuous delivery operate on the team rhythm). The M² framework is designed for this hybrid reality. The PMI-ACP foundation is what makes the methodology choice deliberate rather than accidental — choosing where to apply Scrum versus Kanban versus a predictive milestone plan based on what the work actually requires, not what the team prefers or what the prior consultant left behind.
